1) “I am Abel,” he said. “The authority that the Lord is about to give His people is the anointing for true unity. When there were just two brothers on the earth, we could not live in peace with one another.”

2) Then the voice of the Lord came to me saying, “. . . his (Satan’s) ultimate power of destruction is released when he uses Christians to attack other Christians. Throughout the ages he has used this army . . .”
3) When we reached the level called “The Unity of the Brethren,” none of the enemy’s arrows could reach us.
4) Only true love can bring true unity.

The statements above are from Rick Joyner’s book, The Final Quest. Those citations tell us the beginning of disunity among brethren, how Satan brings it about, how God works to eradicate it, and the benefits of unity.

Disunity is almost always due to envy. Cain killed his brother Abel because of envy. The chief priests handed Jesus over to be crucified because of envy (Mark 15:10). And it was envy that caused the Jews to vehemently oppose Paul (Acts 13:45). God’s remedy to envy, the chief cause of strife and disunity, is love, because love does not envy (1 Corinthians 13:4). As we have already read, Rick Joyner was told during his prophetic experiences that only true love can bring true unity.

Jesus said, “Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and every city or house divided against itself will not stand,” (Matthew 12:25). Once upon a time, the devil flipped through the Bible and read that verse. Since then, his ultimate power of destruction is released when he causes divisions among Christians, using them to attack each other. But thanks be to God, because we are not ignorant of that Satan’s modus operandi.

We, as Christians, need to recognize that we are one body in Christ Jesus. Since every part of the body complements the other, if one of us succeeds, we should see it as our success corporately and thereby rejoice together (1 Corinthians 12:26). We all should be “endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace,” (Ephesians 4:3).

When brethren dwell together in unity, it is good and pleasant (Psalms 133:1). Believers who achieve that godly ideal will without doubt experience the blessing of God (Psalms 133:3). More so, just as Rick Joyner witnessed, when we grow up and reach the level called “The Unity of the Brethren,” none of the enemy’s arrows will be able to reach and hit us. Glory be to God.

I have always told people, “Run away from strife, never be a participator.” For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there (James 3:16). Do not be among the people God ‘hates’ - those who sow discord among brethren (Proverbs 6:16,19). On the contrary, be a peacemaker, one who endeavors to keep the unity of the Spirit. If you do so, the Lord will command a blessing upon you, and you will be beyond reach of the enemy’s arrows.

God bless you.
