And let the peace (soul harmony which comes) from Christ rule (act as umpire continually) in your hearts [deciding and settling with finality all questions that arise in your minds, in that peaceful state] (Colossians 3:15 AMPC). If you want to walk in the perfect will of God in all affairs of life, follow the peace of God in your heart. It is that simple. Simple for you but not for me.
After nineteen years of being born again, I should now be able to discern and be led by peace. Unfortunately, I am ashamed to confess that this is not so. Many things I have done because I felt peace about them have turned out to have been my own stuff, not God’s will. Like many Christians, I often confuse carnal peace to be the peace of God. For now therefore, I have given Colossians 3:15 a break. However, that does not mean that I am no longer led by God. On the contrary, more often than not, I find myself doing the perfect will of God. Why? Because I discovered another way that better works for me other than Colossians 3:15. I live by Psalms 37:4.
Delight yourself also in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart (Psalms 37:4), the Bible teaches. When I am delighting myself in God, I find myself in the very center of God’s will. I delight in God by spending time in prayer, studying the Bible and worshiping Him. By that lifestyle, my heart is one with God’s heart. When that happens, His desires diffuse into my heart becoming my desires. Therefore, for me, I must simply delight myself in God if I am to walk by His guidance. The peace thing has not worked well for me, yet.
By all means, be led by the peace of God, if you have matured in differentiating it from carnal peace. As for me, I will be honest, I go slow with this peace business. This is absurd, and that I acknowledge. If you always thought Pastor Moses had arrived, it is fine if you henceforth consider him a fake guy because the truth is, he does not know how to be led by peace. He has to first learn to distinguish the real peace of God from its carnal counterfeit. However, when he is delighting himself in the Lord, he has often attained near to A+ success as far as the will of God is concerned.
Many of you should humble yourselves because just like me you have made many blunders in the name of “I was led by peace.” Consider experimenting with what is working for me. Start delighting yourself in the Lord, then do whatever you desire to do, as long as it does not conflict with the written Word of God.
If Colossians 3:15 is not working yet, feel free to take a break. Before you run after prophets, and as you wait for dreams, visions and audible voices, first try out Psalms 37:4. It has not failed me these many years. I am sure it will work for you too.
God bless you.
