It is a big, fat lie when a preacher says they have taught about effective prayer and they have not taught about praying with the spirit (praying in tongues). God’s desire is that every Christian should be filled with the Holy Spirit and thereafter start praying in tongues, because that is the sure way of praying His perfect will at any given time. Given a dream which our young keyboardist Edison Musinguzi had on Sunday before the service, we know for certain that God was well pleased that we were going to address His heart’s desire – for all of us to be filled with the Holy Spirit and to pray in tongues.

In that dream, Edison was approached by Brian Sendaula (the guitarist), and told that he must dress up and go to church because the service was going to be very powerful. Hallelujah!

Interestingly, while Dr. Bridget N. Mujuni was driving to church on Sunday, she had a burning desire in her heart to listen to a sermon on the Holy Spirit and praying in tongues! Mrs. Mariam Kalibbala also had a testimony: when the service began and we were praying in tongues, she prayed in her heart that her mother who has been fellowshipping with us the last couple of Sundays would also receive the precious ability to pray in tongues! Mrs. Joan Isoke was also blessed on Sunday in that the very issue she had us pray about on Thursday – the infilling with the Holy Spirit – is what I had in mind, and preached about on Sunday! And my own testimony is that as I prepared my preaching, I wondered what “Holy Spirit Baptism” song we should sing when the time comes to lay hands on people to receive the Spirit. To my amazement, when I entered the church hall on Sunday, the worship team was singing a “Holy Spirit”song!!

My prayer, and encouragement to every one of us, especially those on whom hands were laid and thereby got filled with the Holy Spirit, is that we boldly pray in tongues, for that is the most effective way to pray. God willing, I will devote time this Sunday to help those on whom we laid hands to overcome hindrances to praying in tongues which many “first timers” encounter.

Lastly, even those who are already filled with the Spirit and speak in tongues were again filled on Sunday. We have an example of this in the Bible: the disciples who were filled with the Holy Spirit in Acts 2, were the same ones who were again filled in Acts 4:31. This enabled them to preach the word of God with boldness amidst threats from the Jewish leadership. Therefore, the “refilling” of the Holy Ghost that many of you received should enable you to serve and live for God more effectively.

Indeed, just as Heaven said through Edison, Sunday was very powerful at LAT.
