All of us should take praying in tongues very seriously. Last week I was with a certain friend of mine who told me a true life story that should underscore the importance of praying in tongues.
My friend has a friend (call him Paul), who built a very nice house to live in. When he bought that land and started building, the locals told him that that place is a pathway for certain demons, and it is an altar for a certain kingdom. He ignored all that and completed building his home. When he moved in, he designated a certain day on which locals would gather at his home for prayers. On a certain morning after one of those prayer days, Paul found his wall fence down on the ground for no apparent reason! The locals reminded him that he had built on land belonging to certain kingdom evil spirits. He refused to budge, stayed in his house, and continued with the prayer meetings, with the help of pastors. But all this time his family was experiencing many problems which he knew were demonic attacks. One day, after praying in the night, one of the pastors decided to sleep alone at the prayer altar, while the rest of the people went to a place designated for sleep. That night, demons attacked the Pastor, bound him with ropes, and threw him over the fence that had been rebuilt! He was only discovered in the morning, whereupon they untied him.
Despite this state of perplexity, Paul did not give in to the Devil as to give up his house, although his wife was of the opinion that they vacate the house. He continued trusting God, and continued with the prayer meetings. One day, while the people who had assembled to pray with him did so, he excused himself to take a nap. While he slept, he had a dream wherein the Lord was telling him that he brought him to that place to deal with the spirits that were reigning in that area. The Lord continued to tell Paul that their praying with the understanding was ineffective because the Devil had already lined up solutions to everything they were praying for with the understanding, since the Devil could understand what they were praying about. The Lord then instructed Paul that they needed to switch from praying with the understanding, to praying with the spirit (in tongues). When Paul woke up from that dream, he immediately told the prayer warriors what he had been instructed in the dream, and they right away implemented that strategy of praying in tongues. After doing so for about a week, they one day heard a loud cry of an evil spirit saying over and over again that, “You have chased me away from my place.” Since then, Paul and his family are happily living in their house. Hallelujah!

Foundational Principles of Effective Prayer, Part 4: Praying With The Spirit (13th Aug 2023)
The seriousness or importance of praying in tongues could be why the Lord caused Pastor Godson Ssebuguzi and his wife Catherine to visit us last Sunday. For after I had preached on praying in tongues, and we began to pray in tongues and people were getting filled with the Spirit, Pastor Godson had a vision. In the vision, he saw a beautiful and expensive necklace trashed in soil in a dirty can. Then the Lord told him that the beautiful necklace is the praying in tongues that the church has taken lightly and in some cases abandoned all together. The Lord then admonished us by that vision that as for us, we should take praying in tongues very very very seriously.
God bless you.
