In this fallen world, not everything we want happens when, and how we want it to happen. More so, many things that we want to happen never happen, and those things we do not want to happen actually happen. In all such circumstances, the default mode of the fallen mind in this fallen world is to worry. However, Jesus told us – and we should believe and obey Him – not to worry about anything.
I have heard it said more than once that ninety-nine percent of the things we worry about actually never come to pass, and we never could do anything about the one percent of our worries that do come to pass. That alone should encourage us not to worry. Worry has never solved nor averted any bad thing.
It is also said, and rightly so, that worrying negatively impacts our physical health and mental wellbeing. This means that all the worrying in which we indulge yet can never solve nor avert any problem, instead robs from us. This should be more reason for us not to worry.
But the most important reason why we shouldn’t worry about anything is because the Bible commands us so. Jesus told us that, “. . . do not worry about your life . . .” (Matthew 6:25). Our Father God by His Spirit inspired Paul to write to us saying that, “Be anxious for nothing,” (Philippians 4:6).
Therefore, let us resist worrying about anything. Nothing gets accomplished by worry. Instead, it damages us in so many ways. Let us obey Him who loves us so much, who commanded us not to worry.
God bless you.
