When once Jesus was asked, “Lord, are there few who are saved?” He answered saying, “Strive to enter through the narrow gate, for many, I say to you, will seek to enter and will not be able,” (Luke 13:24). On another occasion, He was more explicit about the issue when He said, “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it,” (Matthew 7:13-14).

A local assembly of Christians is likened to a human body (1 Corinthians 12). Although a body has many different parts, all the parts function for the benefit of each other. Likewise, Christians in a church should use their gifts for the wholesome wellbeing of their brethren. Doing this is part of what Jesus commanded us when He said, “Love one another,” (John 13:34).
