And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it.
1 Corinthians 12:26
Every one of us Christians need to start thinking of ourselves collectively as a body because that is what we are in Christ who is our Head, Colossians 1:18. What happens to one part of a physical body which is symbolic of us the church, also affects the other parts. For this reason we need to actively promote the wellbeing of our sisters and brothers. If you are a pastor, then you must do what is in your power to see that other churches flourish for “we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another,” Romans 12:5.
One of the dreams I have is to see Christians especially pastors of different congregations working together in sincere unity. I am deliberately working towards the spiritual development of my other body parts who are the other wonderful shepherds and their flocks. To think that I can succeed when everyone else is failing is not totally right. I must help them succeed so that the rest of the body that I represent can also effectively function to the glory of Jesus our Head.
Let me be very candid now. For years I have been friends with Jack Barlow - Pastor to a church called Reigning In Life Church. I like him, and he likes me - most probably more than I do. On more than one occasion, as he stood and addressed meetings of numerous people, he has respectfully acknowledged my presence. I believe we have the same mindset concerning Kingdom business - we are members one of another. But that's not where I was headed, so hold on.
Zoe Fellowship Ministries of Prophet Elvis Mbonye has a worship leader that I greatly admire. When she sings, I start wishing she was in my church, Last Adam Tabernacle (LAT), because her gift in action opens up the “heavenlies” for me. I am talking about Ms. Dorothy Ashaba. In fact I once prayed, "Daddy, if Dorothy does not have a church, PLEASE send her to LAT especially since You love great worship." “Faith without action is dead,” James 2:17; so I decided to find out from the "horse's mouth" whether she was a minister in any church. And the opportunity came. I was invited for a meeting where Pastor Jack and Dorothy were in attendance. At one point I walked to her, honored her for the blessing she is to me, and then asked about her church. She told me she is a member of and ministers at Pastor Jack's church. The moment she said that, I rested my case and stopped asking God for her. Why? Because I had now known she was serving my brother Jack with whom we are part of the same one body. I was glad that he has a gifted and anointed worship leader in Dorothy. Actually still at that event, a few minutes after chatting with her Jack and I met in the gents - the place for guys where ladies are not permitted, (remember I promised to be candid), I told him how, with gladness, I had just learnt that great Dorothy Ashaba ministers at his church. As I excitedly told him how happy I was for him, he replied saying, "Yeah, when I heard the seriousness with which you're handling your LAT worship team, I also decided to up my game."
So you see, he was aware of my progress and it inspired him, just as I was also pleased that he had an anointed worshiper that was going to be part of the success of his church. I am not yet perfected in this area of wishing others well, but at least I have begun the journey. I pray that one day God can use me and Jack to inspire you. By the way, he is visiting to minister at LAT soon. My fan club, pray that God brings Dorothy with him. Also, she herself is doing a Worship Evening on 5th August 2016 at Mackinnon Suites. I plan to be there and hope to see you there too.
With that said, you at an individual level start wishing every Christian well too; for their wellbeing is good for you, since you are one family. Their success is your success. If that is true (and it is), imagine how much more blessed you would be if you were actually deliberately involved in helping them make it to the top. I have many highly gifted people in my congregation. Minus the obvious ones like Prophet Paul Samuel and Apostle John, there are more who I beat only in age and height. Do I get jealous and envious because they are more gifted than me? No. I instead promote their gifting and ensure that they effectively edify the body of Christ. I am doing the best that I can for them to become the best they were created to be. If I succeed at that, then whatever rewards they shall receive in eternity, I too will be a partaker of their inheritance. In helping them become great, I am actually securing eternal greatness for myself. This attitude must be one of the reasons God recently revealed in a dream that our church, because all the five-fold ministry gifts are represented, is as good as the Uganda chapter of Andrew Wommack's Charis Bible College.
“And whoever of you desires to be first shall be slave of all,” Jesus said in Mark 10:44. So get into serving, and let you be recorded in the heavenly books as one of those who sacrificed to see another excel. You, the eye of the body, should not fight the nose, and dear hand, do respect the foot. You all are members of the same body. Simply complement each other. When we grow in this one-body mentality, John 13:35 (by this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another) shall be fulfilled to the delight of He who made Himself nothing that we might become children of God.
God bless you.
