Unbeknownst to you who are really PUSH-ing, a great habit is indirectly being built into your life. This is the habit of a great prayer life. A great prayer life is a prized possession in the kingdom of God. Those who have it are a blessing to many. These people are also blessed in many ways that include divine protection.
Last Saturday, I decided to commune with God for about an hour in a certain decent café near home, which café is part of a barber shop where I had gone for my haircut. Knowing that LAT had entered a higher level of greater spiritual accomplishments, I knew that we were now going to be dealing with ‘greater’ devils. (I once heard Joyce Meyer rightly say that: “Higher levels, bigger devils.”). So, at the café I prayed to God to help me have a strong prayer life that will enable me to survive the attacks of the devil, and finish my race well and with joy.
When I got home, I decided to get a gospel message to listen to. I chose one by Roberts Liardon in which he was talking about the legendary apostle, John Alexander Dowie (1847–1907). Dowie had become a great spiritual authority in his area, and was causing great havoc in Satan’s kingdom. For example, many people were getting saved, prostitutes’ businesses were shutting down, and people were quitting drinking – all because of Dowie’s anointed preaching against sin. For that reason, the enemy wanted him off the scene. While he was seated in his office one day, Dowie kept hearing God telling him to get up and take a walk. Minutes after finally obeying God, his office blew up! A bomb had been planted in his office by an organized criminal group who wanted to kill him because he was messing up their businesses.
What saved Dowie from that assassination attempt was his great sensitivity to the voice of the Holy Spirit, and that sensitivity resulted from his strong prayer life. Sadly, later in life, Dowie’s prayer life waned, and Satan finally destroyed him by causing him not to finish his race gracefully.
This teaching on the life of Dowie made me realize that the communion I had had with God at the café was indeed inspired of Him. I then knew that God was speaking to me that I indeed needed a great prayer life in order to finish my race well. And the same applies to you.
Years ago, I consistently prayed in tongues for many days for several hours each day. When I asked the Lord why He had enabled me pray that much, He answered me in a dream that, “The much praying you are doing is keeping away forces of darkness that seek to destroy you.”
Our own Bruce Mayani also had a similar dream years ago. In his dream, he saw that as he prayed in tongues, demons that wanted to kill him turned on each other.
Therefore, let us continue PUSH-ing for our church, and our needs. The consistency in prayer is indirectly producing in us the habit of continuous praying, which will be a blessing to us and others, and will enable us to overcome both the known and unknown attacks of the enemy against our lives.
God bless you.
