Jesus is a slave-owner, but a wonderful one. He needs more slaves, including you. The greatest happiness, prosperity and fulfillment in life you will ever know, is when you voluntarily sign up to become a slave of Christ.
A true slave never has anything, not even rights. All they are permitted to possess is responsibilities defined as forced hard-labour. It is this inhuman treatment of persons by others that has hindered many Christians from subscribing to become slaves of Jesus Christ.
Slavery in the Kingdom of God has some similarities with that which is in the world. Just as earthly slaves do not own anything, so it is with the slaves of Jesus. When Jesus truly becomes our Master, we thereby forfeit all that we ever thought we possessed. We cease to call anything our own, instead, we begin to recognize that we are stewards of the most wonderful slave-owner there will ever be. Worse or better still, we must give up all ambitions in life, except one – to only do and pursue what the Master desires.
The key differences between slavery as practiced by Jesus and that of men have to do with willingness of the slave and the one served. In this world, slavery is the involuntary subjection to another or others; yet with Jesus, you choose to be His slave. In addition to that, Jesus is a wonderful bond-Master. He does not enslave, rather He receives those willing to be His slaves, and all He requests them to do for Him is actually for their own good! Now, surely, why would one not want to become a slave of Christ? Though all things were created through Him and for Him (read Colossians 1:16), yet He sincerely delights in the prosperity of His servants or slaves (read Psalms 35:27). This essentially means that slavery in the Kingdom of God ensures prosperity, for Jesus always looks out for the wellbeing of His very own.
In biblical times, we see slaves in Israel who were to voluntarily sign-up as “slaves forever” because their masters were so good to them. Deuteronomy 15:16 speaks of these slaves who would love their Masters so much because they prospered under them. At the time when they should be set free they would say, “I will not go away from you.”
Jesus is so good. You cannot walk with Him for a year and you do not afterwards say, “I want to be your slave forever; I will not go away from you.” My personal experience since 1998 when I gave my life to Him is that He is faithful, and He has blessed me in ALL things. I have tasted and seen that He is good. I can confidently say, “I will be a slave of Jesus forever.”
I encourage you to give up everything for Jesus, including your life. Live for Him, and Him alone. Then watch and experience the true abundant life that He alone can give. As a slave-owner, His commands are not burdensome (see 1 John 5:3), and whatever good anyone does, he will receive the same from Him, (see Ephesians 6:8).
Sign up to become free and prosperous – become a slave of Jesus Christ.
God bless you.
