Keeping the faith means holding onto Jesus – the giver of eternal life – despite suffering and disappointment, lest one ends up in hell. But that is not all. Keeping the faith also means holding onto the promises of God for this earthly life, and doing what He told you to do, even when it hurts and results seem unattainable. In those seemingly uncertain times, we must “hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He (God) who promised is faithful” (Hebrews 10:23).

Many years ago, there was a certain preacher that I and many other Christians worldwide loved dearly because his teachings blessed us very much. One day, he fell into some sin. After receiving God’s forgiveness and turning away from the sin, he also publicly revealed to us his followers what he had been up to and asked us to forgive him. Knowing that many of those who loved him were going to be deeply hurt to the point of giving up on Jesus, he admonished them saying, “Keep the faith.”
