A few weeks ago on this platform, I did a four-part series on “The Blessings of Obedience.” In part three of that series, I wrote saying, “I see winds of favor blowing your way. You are marked for a blessing from heaven because of your obedience to God.” And in part four of the same series I again wrote saying, “We are on the verge of a significant blessing from God . . . I see winds of favor blowing our way. We are marked for a blessing from heaven because of our obedience to God.” Going by what Hillary Turyagyenda preached on Sunday, and what Joan Isoke said at the prayer meeting on Thursday, we are indeed going to see the blessings of God, and we should be expectant of them.
One of my weaknesses is that I often go overboard in striving not to put words in God’s mouth. I am always extremely cautious in using statements like “thus saith the Lord,” and “God told me.” I neither want to have false hope nor give it to anybody. When, therefore, on Sunday Hillary preached about blessings, and then I learnt that Joan had talked about the same thing on Thursday, I was not only overjoyed by the ‘coincidence’, but also wanted to ascertain that God had really spoken through them. If I was convinced that God had spoken through them then I would confidently shout it loud in your ears that surely God was going to bless us, and He had confirmed my “The Blessings of Obedience” messages.
In my quest to be sure that Joan’s utterances were divinely inspired, I ‘interrogated’ her. I asked her why she talked about blessings on Thursday, yet the prayer item she had communicated to the church by email was about seeking God’s face in relation to living in holiness. Her answer was that those who attended the prayer meeting had indeed prayed in accordance with the communicated prayer item but at the end, God had put it on her heart to talk about blessings He was going to send to us. My understanding of Joan (according to the first ‘interrogation’ I had with her on Sunday regarding this matter) is that when she talked about the blessings, she did not at all have in mind what I had written weeks earlier about the blessings coming our way. These two things – Joan talking about blessings, which was not the prayer agenda, and doing so not because I had written about it – confirmed to me that she had spoken by the inspiration of God. Hallelujah!
I then ‘interrogated’ Hillary as well. I got to learn that Hillary had attended that prayer meeting where Joan talked about the blessings. I therefore wanted to find out from him whether his sermon was ‘inspired’ by Joan. Here is his written response:

“No, it wasn’t caused by Joan’s statements on Thursday. I was led of God to preach it at LAT from January. It is the message I had (been) ready to preach four Sundays ago when you asked me to preach but then called me asking that we push to three Sundays ahead so that Evangelist Wandera could minister first. The message I planned according to how I was led didn’t change throughout that time.”
Basically, the way I see all this is that Joan was speaking the word of the Lord on Thursday when she said that blessings were coming to us. And, unknown to her, she was confirming to Hillary who was listening to her that what He was going to preach in a couple of days – that which was on his heart since the beginning of the year – was indeed a “thus saith the Lord.” That also means that my recent “The Blessings of Obedience” series were a “thus saith the Lord.”
I now put aside my weakness of going overboard in striving not to put words in God’s mouth: Thus saith the Lord, “Winds of favor are blowing your way. You are marked for a blessing from heaven because of your obedience to God. LAT is on the verge of a significant blessing from God. Winds of favor are blowing LAT’s way. LAT is marked for a blessing from heaven because of her obedience to God.” Amen.
