I believe I heard God speak to me from Psalm 1:1-3 that 2020 is going to be a fruitful year for you, on condition that you do what He says.

It is written in Psalm 1:1-3 that, “Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful; But his delight is in the law of the Lord, And in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper.”

First of all, God wants you to know that all the people who wished you a prosperous 2020 were actually prophesying, unlike the past years when “have a prosperous new year” was just a cliché. Secondly, notice that in that passage of Psalm 1:1-3, prosperity is synonymous with fruitfulness. And lastly, take note that in the same passage, you are told how you are going to see fruitfulness – delighting in God’s word.

Now, the fruitfulness God has planned for you in 2020 is two-fold: fruit(s) of the spirit and fruits of answered prayer which includes material blessings. More so, the word of God you are to delight in for you to experience fruitfulness is two-fold: the written word and the ‘revealed’ word.

The fruit(s) of the spirit which can be summarized as love will come forth in your life by doing what the written word says is righteous and shunning what the Bible says is evil. And the fruits of answered prayer (and material blessings) will become apparent in your life as you obey the specific instructions God will give you at different times throughout the year.

Believe me that God has planned to increase you spiritually and physically in 2020. Likewise, believe me that He said there is one sure way this is going to happen – obedience to His word and instructions.

In 2020, God will not want you to prosper only materially; He will want you to also prosper spiritually. As it is written, “Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.” (3 John 2)

Actually, because spiritual prosperity or fruitfulness takes preeminence over material prosperity, the former will result in the latter in 2020 even as you obey God’s specific instructions. That is why God also gave me this Scripture as far as your fruitful 2020 is concerned: “Say to the righteous that it shall be well with them, For they shall eat the fruit of their doings.” (Isaiah 3:10). Notice that the righteous (the spiritually fruitful) are the same ones God says will experience and ‘eat’ physical fruitfulness. Remember that the righteous person of Isaiah 3:10 is someone who lives righteously. As it is written, “He who practices righteousness is righteous” (1 John 3:7).

I am not a good writer. However, I hope you have gotten the gist of the message. In 2020 you are going to prosper both spiritually and materially as you delight in God’s word and instructions. 2020 is going to be a fruitful year for you.

Glory be to God.
