In the wake of President Yoweri Museveni’s signing into law the Anti-homosexuality Bill and the unfortunate negative response of the Western world, I am reminded of a dream I had five years ago, which I shared on this platform. On 12th January 2018, I dreamt that some people and I, together with my then seven year old daughter Eden, were seated at a table with Apostle John Mulinde. He then told us, “Western Europe is again going to do something that will negatively impact Uganda’s economy. Get ready not to live a great life, but a greater life!” Then to illustrate a point, Mulinde asked for Eden, who I carried onto the table as I said that, “She can sing.” Mulinde then put something in her mouth. Eden failed to sing not only because of the discomfort, but also because the thing that was put in her mouth could not let her do so. Therefore, that thing that had been put in her mouth was removed. Then I awoke.
Back then, my interpretation was (and I believe it was correct), that Western Europe was going to withhold (as it had done a few years previously), foreign aid (which keeps us from speaking out against their evils), and we as a nation would be adversely affected economically. When this dream did not come to pass as quickly as I expected, I chose to believe, and still want to believe, that its fulfilment was averted by the prayers of the saints. But, there is still a possibility that it was never averted. If the latter is so, then this could be the time when we shall see donor funding being cut, and the nation suffering economically. However, as it was said in the dream, the Christian should “get ready not to live a great life, but a greater life.”

A few days after receiving this dream, I made it the subject of my preaching that Sunday. I advised us to do two things – save and give – in order to survive and thrive in the economic crisis that was coming. I advised us to save some money the way Joseph in the Bible did before the seven years of famine came, and also to give generously because, “The generous soul will be made rich” (Proverbs 11:25). After I was done preaching and there was still much time left to end the service, I requested anyone in the congregation who had something to say to come up and say it. No one responded. However, when the service was closed, a certain Honest Kamikazi told me a dream she had had that Sunday morning but was too scared to share before the whole church. In her dream, Honest was telling people to tithe, give, and save! And interestingly, during the previous day, and before she went to bed, she had been reading the chapters in Genesis relating to how Joseph prospered in famine and also kept alive an entire nation and his family.
IF the fulfilment of my dream was not averted and its time has now come in view of the recent developments in our country, then we who have been laying up for ourselves treasures in heaven by generosity (Matthew 6:19-20) are in not for a great life, but a greater one. Do not forget that we are in our Promised Land.
God bless you.
